Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of tailoring the coding and on-page content of a website’s pages to make them more appealing to Search Engines (primarily Google, Bing and Yahoo).
Search Engines use a formula, called an algorithm, to analyze the content of webpages. It is thought that Google’s algorithm includes around 200 different factors. The importance that Google assigns to each factor is subject to near-constant change. Pages that score highest for the factors that Google is currently giving the greatest value are ranked better in Google’s “Index”. The Index is the catalog of all the pages that Google robots (called spiders) have visited and evaluated.
Webpages that are ranked highest are displayed on page one of Google’s search results.
Typically, when people are looking to buy a product or service, they go to one of the big three search engines. They rarely go farther into the results than page one. If you do business with the general public, being on page one is everything. Businesses that are on page one make money. Businesses that are on page three make excuses.
Newspapers, magazines, radio and the phonebook yellow pages are secondary avenues of marketing. People who do an online search are actively preparing to make a purchase. They want to buy a particular product or service and that is the best time for your business to get your message in front of them.
We specialize in customizing our clients’ websites, fine-tuning the content of the pages and using expert coding techniques, to get them on page one of the Search Engines’ results.
